We have been working together with Sumitomo Electric Hartmetall since our foundation. A new Sumitomo development marked the beginning of this successful partnership: The first indexable inserts with sintered chip breaker geometry. Shortly after, Sumitomo started to develop the polycrystalline cutting materials CBN and PCD. This resulted in hard and dry machining techniques which, for the first time, enabled the efficient machining of hardened workpieces. At that time, Sumitomo recognized the signs of the times and laid the foundation for its current market leadership in hard machining through the continuous further development of new types of CBN. These and innumerable tool innovations contributed to the success that makes our partnership so valuable.
